Kayla Zhang
Kayla was an undergraduate thesis student who helped establish the lung cancer project which investigated whether circulating tumor DNA can be detected in the BAL and sputum of lung cancer patients. She then spent a year as a research assistant helping with the various clinical trials associated with the lab. These projects ranged were mostly focused on describing how biologics affected the inflammatory conditions of patients with severe asthma. Currently she is a master’s student in the Medical Sciences program. Her project investigates autoimmunity that arises from infections and chronic respiratory diseases and their implications on NETosis and inflammatory mechanisms.
Fun fact: I can turn my feet outwards 270°. Ankle flexibility!
