Julia Cotterill

Julia is a master's student in the Medical Science program. Her thesis focuses on isolating circulating tumor DNA in blood, sputum, and bronchioalveolar lavage fluid in patients with lung cancer, and using this biomarker to monitor for lung cancer recurrence after tumor resection surgery. Another aim of her thesis involves using an Electronic Nose device to measure volatile organic compounds in the breath of patients with lung cancer, to investigate it’s potential use as a minimally invasive monitoring aid for lung cancer patients in the future.
